So the experimenting continued.(by the way, the AHCI/RAID Bios that loads on boot says its the ICH8R) Cool.but never got AHCI recognised in win7. The system reserved would be on partition 0 and the main partition for windows would be partition 1. When I would create the new partition in setup, win7 wanted to create the system partition.fine, no problem. ![]() So I messed around with installing using each mode and also with/without trying different AHCI drivers as suggested online. Dell's BIOS for this system only gives you the option of "RAID Autodetect/ATA" or "RAID On". Why you ask? because I've been trying to get the Samsung Magician program to recognise the drive as being in AHCI mode with no success. So, I've been installing and re-installing Win 7 Pro 64-bit on a new SSD for a few days now. ![]() System: Dell XPS 410 (Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz, 8 GB RAM)
